2019 Report

  • 2019 Report

We present a summary of the past year, in which:

►We were delighted to host you at the preview openings of the exhibitions at the Museum of Modern Art in Warsaw/ Museum of Modern Art in Warsaw: "Fears" by Daniel Rycharski, "Never Again. Art Against War and Fascism in the Twentieth and Twenty-First Centuries", "I, a Human Being" by Miriam Cahn.

►The hit of the season turned out to be the June opening of the exhibition "Paint Means Blood. Woman, Affect and Desire in Contemporary Painting" combined with a charity event for the Society's 10th anniversary, with an attractive fundrising raffle. We then raffled off 10 works donated to us by female artists participating in the exhibition. We also visited the opening gala of last year's Artistic Journey of Hestia.

►We enriched the Museum's collection with watercolors and gouaches included in the "STAR" series by Mikołaj Sobczak and, as part of our collaboration with the organizers of Friend of a Friend, Shana Moulton's film "MindPlace ThoughtStream." We are pleased to announce that, thanks to securing an exceptional donor, in the coming years we will continue our two-year tradition of awarding a prize in the form of the purchase of a commission-selected work, presented during the Warsaw edition of Friend of a Friend.

► Looking to the future, we visited the Museum construction site and presented the Polish Home Film Archive project, under which we hope to expand the collection available in the Museum's Film Library.

►The development of your collecting passions was fostered by a panel on collecting contemporary art, where views were exchanged by representatives of galleries, an auction house, an online portal and an art market advisory.

► We continued to sell the collector's editions we have been publishing.

► We visited commercial galleries presenting works by artists associated with the collection or exhibitions at MSN (including Agata Bogacka, Jerzy Stajuda, Zofia Rydet, Henryk Streng, Mateusz Choróbski).

► We took part in FOAF and Warsaw Gallery Weekend.

►We invited you to the charity auctions of Together Pamoja Foundation, Refugees Welcome and High Heels.

► We were able to expand our knowledge of art, institutions and collections during joint trips; including to the Art Museum in Lodz for the exhibitions "Avant-garde and the State" and "The Great War"; to Berlin for exhibitions and meetings with Katarzyna Kozyra and Agnieszka Polska and a tour of the private collections of Erika Hoffman, Archivio Konz, Boros Collection, Julia Stoschek Collection; to Venice for the opening of the Venice Art Biennale.

► We were hosted by Piotr Pawel Bazylko in his Warsaw collection, and by Paulina Olowska in Rabka at Villa Kadenówka.

►We provided our members with free VIP cards entitling them to entry to the fairs and accompanying events of Art Basel, Vienna Contemporary, Frieze London, Fiac Paris, Artissima Turin, Paris Photo and many others.

► In 2019, we also elected the Society's Board of Directors for a new term, consisting of Dr. Aleksandra Auleytner, Michal Borowik, Helena Czernecka, Katia Szczeka, Anna Tryc-Bromley.

Dziękujemy, że byliście z nami w roku 2019 i zapraszamy na wiele więcej wydarzeń w 2020!
