  • Tadeusz Rolke, In front of the Emilia Furniture Store, Warsaw, 1992

This photography is a part of (as the artist calls it) „assortment of unwanted photos”, which weren’t taken on any particular commission, but belong to his private observation of the surrounding reality. Tadeusz Rolke intensively documented Poland at the beginning of the 1990s, being aware of the importance of this dynamic breakthrough period. The photo shows one of the typical situations of that time – market entering the streets – waiting for a sofa transport.

What is interesting to the artist, is the fact that the photography was taken at the place which was to become a centre of cultural life years later.
