The Lights of Chartres is one of the most important photographic series created by Eustachy Kossakowski – it is also an exceptional departure from black and white photography in favor of color. The artist documents light gleam on the walls of the medieval cathedral in Chartres. This impressive book containing photographs from Chartres, published by Jean-Claude Lattes in 1989, was voted in the plebiscite of the magazine Lire the most beautiful French book of the decade. As a result of the very good reception of the series, Eustachy Kossakowski entered French photography history books.
