Goshka Macuga (born 1967)
Born in Warsaw and based in London, Goshka Macuga is one of the most recognized and esteemed Polish artists abroad. In 2008, she was nominated for the Turner Prize, while the last year brought her the Arnold-Bode-Prize, named after the founder of Documenta – exhibition held every five years in Kassel, Germany.
In her oeuvre, Macuga employs a unique artistic methodology, sometimes referred to as „the archaeology of culture”, which is based on in-depth archival and historical research preceding each artistic undertaking.
