Art collecting - panel discussion

Private art collections are created for many different reasons. What do we really expect from an artwork we purchase? What motivates us - return on capital, or cultural and social values? Where to buy art? What is the offer of private galleries, charity auctions, auction houses, art fairs? Are artist editions a good start? On models of collecting, opportunities, risks and good practices in the art market. The questions were answered from diverse perspectives:

Exclusively for this occasion the Panellists brought original artworks which illustrated their views. In the first part they discussed their practice and described a typical client. In the second part they discussed the artworks in the context of hypothetical choices made by their clients.
